ABOUT TIM DIETZ
Tim, was born and raised in Hanover, Pennsylvania in a family with a racing heritage and a name known as "DIETZ". The family racing genes were passed down 3 generations till they reach Tim. It all started with his Grandfather (Richard Dietz) who Drag Raced and owned/built drag cars and engines. Next was Tim's father (Keith Dietz) who Drag Raced, and Tim's Uncle (Tim A. Dietz) who raced Sprints, Midgets, Micro's and Go-Karts. Tim's guidance came from his Father and Grandfather, but his inspiration and racing love came from his brother-like Uncle.
Tim started his racing career at the age of 7 in 1989 competing in Go-Karts. He won the Rookie of the year honors at not one, but two tracks. (Hunterstown and Shippensburg Speedways) From there after a few years under his belt and a handful of victory trophies on his shelves he moved to the Hunterstown 2 Cycle Restricted Class in 1991 at age 9. Tim dominated that class for 4 years, till in 1995 he made the big switch to the 270 CC Micro Sprint Division on his backyard track of Trail-way Speedway in Hanover. After 6 years of competition in the 270's, Tim and the Dietz Racing Family placed him in the 600 CC Micro Sprint Division and that is when all the stars aligned. Year by year Tim flirted with the Championship title as he would finish a close 2nd and 3rd three times in three years. Eleven victory lane speeches later in 2004 Tim won the biggest race of his life (The Kevin Gobrecht Memorial National Open) and was crowed the 2004 Trail-way Speedway Champion.
The following year, the team dealt with a year like no other. A year just where nothing seemed to go right. Week in and week out problems arose and the team finished a disappointing 10th in points. By seasons end Tim was offered to drive for another team in 2006. Tim was offered a ride in the LRP #9 Micro Sprint out of Newville, PA. After the frustrating 2005 season, Tim decided to park the family car and try racing for another team. The move worked out very well as Tim picked up back to back Championships in 2006 and 2007 at Hill Valley Speedway. Along the way Tim also got the opportunity to race at many large races all over the United States. At the end of 2008, after three great years of racing on the road and one son later, Tim and the LRP Racing team decided to parts ways and move on the other opportunities.
In November of 2008, the Dietz Racing Team decided that they would reunite and revive the family racing heritage and pave the way for the generations to come. A new car was purchased and the number 18d was established again like it was years ago. In March of 2009, Tim once again made laps in the famous 18d at his home track Trail-way Speedway in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
